News and Events

As our blog content continues to grow, so too does our work in the creative arts.

Here is where we will periodically update you all on our exciting news and events, including information about competitions we’ve entered and won, alongside information about what we are learning in our creative writing classes.

Our Students Win in Regional Awards of the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition 2021!!

What an incredible season of creative exploration we’ve had! After many weeks of innovative creative writing workshops, our talented students have been honored at the regional level in the 2021 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition!

From a tale about a soul trapped inside a volcanic statue at Pompei, to a poem about a very disheartened Demeter, to an opinion editorial about the impact of extremism on the Black Lives Matters movement, their pieces explore the nature of human experience through a wide range of exciting genre and forms. And there’s more where that came from!

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards were founded in 1923 and, for nearly a century, have inspired bold ideas in creative teens throughout the country. We are absolutely thrilled that our students have now joined the ranks of some of the most creatively talented young people across the country.

Our students placed in the following regional categories:

  • Short Fiction
  • Flash Fiction
  • Journalism
  • Humor
  • Poetry
  • Dramatic Writing
  • Memoir

Our Awards

As we wait for Notification Day for the National awards (17 March 2021), which our regional gold keys are now completing in, we say BRAVO to all of the young people who submitted their work to the competition.

Well done to everyone for their hard work and commitment to the creative arts. Keep on writing!

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. The Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The Awards give students opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships. Students across America entered nearly 320,000 original works in 2020 in 28 different categories of art and writing.
